In the Beginning...
The original "Windsor" opened in 1954 and was located on Kingsway in New Westminster (one block east of Burnaby's Municipal Hall at Edmunds Street). This location, although open to the public, served primarily local contractors, and was replaced by a Surrey store on King George's Highway in 1958 (the New Westminster location was closed roughly a year later). The current owner bought Windsor in 1965 and in 1969 the first corporate store opened its doors in North Vancouver under the "Windsor Plywood" banner. Windsor Plywood has been a part of the growth of Western Canada for the past 40 years with the opening of 60 retail locations from Ucuelet, BC to Thunder Bay, Ontario to Great Falls, Montana in the USA - and growing.
